As we gradually let go of Summer and transition into Autumn, it can be hard to know what to wear and how to embrace those chillier days ahead whilst still feeling well put together. The ease of summer dressing is behind us but that doesn't mean we need to sacrifice on style as we start to layer up in cosier fabrics. We've received most of our Autumn collection in store now and there's a lot to be excited about! In this post, we've highlighted some of the key trends this season that you can turn to again and again when you're not sure what to wear or when you're trying to figure out what you might be missing. Adding just a few new versatile pieces to your existing wardrobe can bring it so much life and create fresh new looks as we get in the spirit for spooky season and sweater weather ahead!
STRIPED JUMPER
The great thing about a striped jumper is that they never really go out of style. A timeless classic that has returned this year in numerous styles all featuring something a little bit different. Free People have truly delivered in the stripe department bringing us both the Coastal Pullover and the Paulie Sweater. The former is just as effortless as it is essential, featuring a very on-trend oversized fit, zip front neckline and a bold navy stripe for a classic coastal touch - perfect for the South Coast and beyond! The Paulie sweater features a high contrast inverted colour way, predominantly black making it extra chic with the turtle neckline and ribbed hems. The perfect piece to pair with anything from classic denim to a more tailored trouser. Lastly from Yaya, we have this striped sweater in cream and dark army green featuring a cosy but less dominant mock neck. We can always rely on this brand for touch appeal due to their quality composition and this soft striped number is no exception!
CORD TROUSERS
If you follow us in Instagram, you may have already spotted a few of these pieces as we are obsessed! Cords are definitely in for Autumn - not only looking good but also bringing some warmth and comfort with their soft stretch and loose fitting cuts. Whilst pumpkin season may make you think of orange hues, we're honouring it with this bold mustard look from Yerse. They have an elasticated waistband for ultimate comfort and the ankles look great turned up or down depending on your height/shoe choice! New to ROSE this season, Maison Hotel delivers with the Luisa Moonflower Pant, a lightweight cord that hangs more like a summer linen - perfect for in-between weather! The rich, floral print brings a luxurious warmth that we'll be pairing with our favourite knits and gilets on top. Now for the most flattering shape of all, the Jayde flares are back in this gorgeous deep cocoa. Fitted around the seat and thigh but flaring on the lower leg, we're loving this style both resting on our clogs or with a pair of heeled boots for that Daisy Jones edge. Forget the old classic "jeans and a nice top" and let your trousers do the talking!
GREEN DENIM
This Autumn, we're switching up our usual blue denim for something a little more earthy and interesting. While these lush greens do add some colour, the dark hues still act as a neutral that are super easy to compliment and layer. We love a jumpsuit for their easy all-in-one throw on nature and this striped khaki number from Seventy & Mochi sums up effortlessly cool. Size up for an extra relaxed fit as Lauren did here. Tis the season for a light jacket and once again, we're keeping it interesting with the Madison City denim jacket. This oversized, laidback piece looks great over a graphic tee or layer it over a dress to toughen up a more feminine look. Lastly, it's the iconic Mabel jean, also from Seventy & Mochi - recognisable from their signature front pocket stitching. Made from organic cotton, we have no doubt that these pine coloured trousers are the staple piece you'll be reaching for time and time again.
SLEEVELESS PULLOVER
Sleeveless pullovers have made a big comeback in recent years and we're here for it! It's not quite reached full knit weather yet so we're easing in with these vests that will keep your core warm whilst leaving your body to breathe. They look great as stand alone pieces or layered over a long sleeve top or tee (or even a dress!) so are super versatile depending on the temperature. The knitted vest from Yerse features a button up front and is the most gorgeous creamy beige that will go everything. Make more of a statement in the uber cool Maco brown sleeveless sweater. It's got grandad chic down to a tee and we're loving the little pop of mustard against the deep brown. Yaya have brought us this chic fluffy high neck version, soft to the touch as always and super easy to dress up or down - day or night!
LEATHER BAG
Our sell-out collection of bags from Biba are back in stock, but won't stick around for long if it's anything like last time! Beach bags and canvas totes have been put away from Summer and it's time to invest in something a little more sturdy to fit with the change in footwear and overall heavier looks. The large Perkins woven shoulder bag is reminiscent of our rattan favourites but made from 100% washed, vegetable-tanned and hand-braided cowhide leather. This show stopper is designed to hold absolutely everything you could want on the go - perfect for use as a baby bag, carry on luggage, overnight bag, uni bag and everything in between! The black crossbody version is still big enough for all of the essentials and features a choice of two long shoulder straps for easy carrying. Finally the Boston crossbody in tan is the ideal day-to-night bag with it's metal frame closure. These are truly excellent quality bags which will not only last forever but gain beauty with their use. The perfect finishing touch to any Autumnal look!
We hope this helps get you excited for the upcoming season and narrow down some key pieces to add to your wardrobe. By incorporating pieces like this, you'll have a solid foundation for creating outfits that seamlessly transition from warm to cool weather.
